Trump extended an invitation to Orban. Where and when will the meeting take place?

Former US President Donald Trump invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to a meeting. The politicians will meet next week at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. This is part of Trump's election campaign as he tries to return to the White House.

The presidential elections in the United States will take place in early November.

Why Trump will meet with Orban

Although the Democratic and Republican primaries are still underway, it seems almost certain that the candidate of the former party will be incumbent President Joe Biden, and the candidate of the latter will be former President Donald Trump.

Therefore, the invitation of the Hungarian leader is part of Trump's election campaign. Orban is appreciated by Republican voters, among others. for their strong opposition to illegal migration.

It is also worth noting that the Biden administration does not have the best relations with the Orban government, which has been criticized for, among others, blocking EU aid for Ukraine, maintaining good relations with Russia or delaying consent to Sweden's accession to NATO.

For the same reasons, Orban's government also has cold relations with many countries in Europe, especially with the European Union authorities. The Hungarian leader's statement from June last year was widely echoed. – For me, Vladimir Putin is not a war criminal – Orban said.

Trump on Orban: My friend

The Hungarian prime minister is a long-time ally of Trump. He often publicly praised the former US president after he left the White House. The politicians' last meeting took place in 2022 at Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

“I had a great time with my friend Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary. We touched on many interesting topics – few people know so much about what is happening in the world today. In April, we also celebrated his great electoral victory,” the former US president commented on social media.

Orban: We would like Trump to return to the White House

As reported by The New York Times, the next meeting of politicians will probably take place next Friday, March 8, at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.

A few weeks ago, Orban gave a speech in which he expressed his support for Trump in the race for the White House. Orban said the US elections would be “part of a global referendum” that would decide what form of government democratic societies should adopt.

– The year 2024 may be a breakthrough. The year of “super elections”, when the inhabitants of Brussels, America, India and several other places will decide what kind of leadership they want in the face of global economic transformation (…). We cannot interfere in elections in other countries, but we would very much like to see President Donald Trump return to the White House and bring peace to the eastern half of Europe. It's time for another US presidency with the slogan “Make America Great Again,” said the Hungarian Prime Minister.
