Zofia Romaszewska: The Church rained down thunder on the president. Clergy should not get involved in this

The Church criticized him in every possible way for signing the in vitro act. I have to defend the president here – in vitro is about giving life, not taking it. The fact that some cells die in the process is a matter of God or nature. As someone preferes. In a woman whose pregnancy is unsuccessful, these cells also die. Clergy should not get involved in this, says Zofia Romaszewska, an activist of the democratic opposition in the Polish People’s Republic, in an interview with “Wprost”. Andrzej Duda’s advisor also says, among others: about the president’s relations with Donald Tusk and assesses whether the president did the right thing by pardoning Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik.

Agnieszka Niehearowska-Szczepańska, “Wprost”: Did you expect such a row about public media? TVP’s flagship program “Wiadomości” disappeared from the air, and TVP Info stopped broadcasting altogether. The television building is occupied by PiS politicians who defend TVP against the new management.

Zofia Romaszewska: The level of emotions after the elections was so high that it was predictable. It’s a pity that we can’t share what we call public television, but it is simply government-owned.

It was similar before, TVP operated under the dictate of its predecessors.

Public television is always subordinate to the current government, but never before has there been such zeal in “taking back” the media.

The authorities want to take over everything, and yet there must be some media that will be in the hands of the opposition.

There is, for example, Telewizja Republika and TV Trwam.

Their reach is much smaller than TVP, private TVN or Polsat stations. That’s why we have public media, so that a part of them can be allocated to people who can freely say that they don’t like the government. And that’s what war is about.
