TPN closes the trail. This is one of the most popular routes in the Tatra Mountains

Representatives of the Tatra National Park announced the closure of one of the trails. Difficulties for tourists will last only one day, but if any of you are going to this area, it is better to postpone it to another date.

Recently, we informed that tourists will experience difficulties on two sections of trails in the Tatra Mountains. All because TPN employees planned to replace the chains here. The matter concerned the approach to Skrajny Granat from Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy (replacement of approximately 15 m of chain) and the section of Orla Perć: Zadni Granat – Skrajny Granat (replacement of approximately 30-40 m of chain). The works did not require closing the trails, but TPN informed that there may be difficulties and temporary suspension of traffic.

It seems that renovations are also planned on other popular roads in the Tatra Mountains. A message appeared on the Facebook profile of the Tatra National Park that the iconic trail would be completely closed for one day.

TPN closes a popular trail

On August 22, an important message for tourists appeared on the TPN Facebook profile. This is about closing a very popular trail. It will take place on August 24 and will last only one day. If you were planning to complete this route on this date, consider changing the date.

“Due to the renovation of the trail, on Thursday, August 24, 2023 (for 1 day only), we are closing the blue marked tourist trail on the section: Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich – Świstówka Roztocka – Morskie Oko (in both directions),” the statement read.

Fortunately, the whole project will not last long, so tourists will be able to return to the roads on Friday, August 25.

Crowds of tourists in the Tatra Mountains

The holiday season is the period when most people go to the Tatra Mountains. This was especially visible during the long weekend in August. At that time, there were many tourists on the routes, and long queues formed at the approaches to popular peaks. Some people stood aside to go to the top and admire the views, but others turned back. Photos taken by hikers on the trails were posted online. Internet users commented that in the summer it is worth going to the mountains on weekdays and especially early in the morning. Then we have the greatest chance of meeting fewer people along the way, and climbing the most interesting peaks will not be hindered in any way.
