The FIVB accepted the volleyball player's request.  From now on she will play as a Pole

Dominika Sobolska-Tarasova, who played in the Tauron Liga in the past, shared the surprising news. The FIVB accepted the midfielder’s request and from now on she will play as a Pole.

Dominika Sobolska-Tarasova currently plays for Uyba Volley Busto Arsizio. The player recently turned 32, on December 3, and has so far represented Belgium on the international arena. This will change from now on.

Central has a lot in common with our country because it has Polish roots. Her father, Tomasz, was a volleyball player for Gwardia Wrocław in the past, and her sister, Marta, plays beach volleyball. Moreover, Sobolska-Tarasova played in the Tauron Liga in the past. The volleyball player played in such clubs as: Grot Budowlani Łódź, BKS Profi Credit Bielsko-Biała, Tauron Banimex MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza, KPS Chemik Police and Impel Gwardia Wrocław – her first senior club.

On her Instagram, the 32-year-old announced that the FIVB had accepted her request to change her citizenship from Belgian to Polish. This means that from now on she will appear as a Pole. “Best birthday present!” – she wrote. “A huge thank you to Cresta, a sports law firm, and Xavier Mansat, a lawyer specializing in volleyball claims, for their legal assistance and support,” she added.

The player also thanked Belgium for what it did for her at the beginning of her career. “I’m really grateful for everything Belgium has given me. Starting with volleyball school and the opportunity to play in world competitions with the national team. But anyone who knows me will understand how excited I am about this change,” we read.

So far, Dominika Sobolska-Tarasova has achieved success only in clubs. In 2008, she won silver in the Belgian first league. In 2014, with Chemik Police, she won the Polish Cup and gold in the Tauron League, and in 2023, she won bronze with Grot Budowlane Łódź. Meanwhile, in 2021, she won the Romanian league with CSM Târgoviște. In turn, in the Belgian national team, she only won gold at the European Youth Olympic Festival.
