In the Eredivisie match between AZ Alkmaar and NEC Nijmegen, Bas Dost was knocked unconscious. Fortunately, the doctors’ investment was effective and the player is no longer in danger. The Dutch striker decided to tell the fans about his health condition on his own.

There was drama in the last match of the Dutch Eredivisie. In added time, Bas Dost, who was in the middle of the pitch, fell to the pitch without contact with the opponent or the ball. Despite this, the referee allowed AZ to continue the action and needed a moment to stop the game.

The whole situation is happening very quickly. The medics quickly ran onto the pitch, and players from both teams immediately ran up to them and covered them. Moments later, the NEC Nijmegen striker was taken off on a stretcher, and the referee stopped the match with the score 2-1 for NEC.

A moment later, information appeared in the media that everything had ended positively and the attacker regained consciousness. Dost was immediately taken to hospital, where he underwent all tests.

Bas Dost sent a message to fans

Now, after some time, the striker himself spoke to the fans via the club’s social media. NEC Nijmegen posted a post on Twitter with a smiling player giving a thumbs up.

“I’m doing good. The help I received on the pitch was fantastic. I’m in the hospital now and I feel fine. Thank you for all your support!” – he said.

Bas Dost started his career in Emmen’s youth teams. In 2008, he moved to Heracklea Almelo for 300,000. Euro. After two years, he went to Heerenveen for almost 10 times more. His good performance in this club meant that in 2012 he deserved a transfer to Wolfsburg for PLN 7 million.

After four years in the Bundesliga, he left for Sporting. Three years later, he decided to return to Germany, this time to Eintracht Frankfurt. At the age of 31, he joined FC Brugge for EUR 4 million. After a year, he left for Utrecht for free, from where he later moved to NEC Nijmegen.
