Morawiecki thanked the president. “For a decision in accordance with the spirit of the law”
Matusz Morawiecki assured that PiS MPs would support the president’s draft budget-related bill. “Thank you for your decision in accordance with the spirit of the law,” wrote the former prime minister.
On Thursday, the Sejm passed an amendment to the budget-related act for 2024. The president announced on Saturday that he had decided to veto it. At the same time, Andrzej Duda assured that he would immediately submit his own project to the Sejm on Christmas Day, regarding, among others, raises for teachers and other expenses planned in the budget-related act. Donald Tusk commented on this move.
Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also commented on the situation, who addressed Andrzej Duda via the X platform. “Mr. President – thank you for your decision in accordance with the spirit of the law and good, democratic customs. PiS MPs will support the draft budget-related bill authored by the President. YES to teacher pay raises!” – wrote a PiS politician.
PiS MPs will ask President Andrzej Duda for a draft budget-related bill
Mariusz Błaszczak spoke in a similar tone. “The Law and Justice Parliamentary Club is fully available. We expect the marshals of the Sejm and Senate to convene a meeting just after Christmas and deal with the president’s draft budget-related bill,” assured the chairman of KP PiS.
The Prime Minister reacted to the presidential veto. “The presidential veto takes money from preschool and beginner teachers, but abolishes the fireplace tax, i.e. it allows unlimited raises for the presidents of state companies and agencies. Shame. Merry Christmas, President. I reassure the injured: we will deal with it,” wrote Donald Tusk.
The head of state responded almost immediately. “Mr Prime Minister, I am glad that you write that you will cope. This means that, as I appealed, you will convene the Sejm and the Senate after Christmas and pass my bill, which will include raises for teachers, etc., but without PLN 3 billion for public media. And both of you – Merry Christmas, Prime Minister! – wrote the president.
