The Pole faced Russian Wieronika Kudiermietowa and lost the match in three sets 2:6, 6:2, 4:6. The defeat was surprising because Świątek had not been defeated in any of her previous direct matches. The athlete from Raszyn has little time for analysis, because after several dozen hours she will have her first fight in China.

The Pole’s rival will be Sara Sorribes Tormo. The Spanish player is the 55th player in the ranking, who can boast of winning two WTA tournaments. The furthest she reached in Grand Slam competitions was at the last Roland Garros. While Świątek won the competition in Paris, the 26-year-old finished the competition in the fourth round.

Both women had a chance to face each other recently in a direct duel. During Wimbledon 2023, Świątek did not give the Spanish a chance. She defeated her 6-2, 6-0 in just over an hour. This advanced her to the third round of the tournament in London.
