Adrianna Sułek will not start at the world championships. Sensational decision
The Polish national team is getting ready for the upcoming World Athletics Championships. In Budapest, the best athletes will compete for one of the most valuable medals. However, Adrianna Sułek will be missing from the 67-person squad. The vice-champion of Europe in heptathlon and the vice-champion of the world in indoor pentathlon are not on the starting list.
Polish athletes have been preparing for the upcoming World Championships for months. One year after this type of competition in Eugene (postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Olympic Games in Tokyo), the best athletes will compete in the Hungarian capital. Poles hope to improve the result from the United States, which was not the best. Adrianna Sułek’s name does not appear in the composition of the white and red team.
Adrianna Sułek will not take part in the world championships
Adrianna Sułek appeared as one of the Polish candidates for the medal. This year, the Polish representative won the indoor European runners-up in Istanbul, improving her world record and the then world record. The good form of the rival, Nafissatou Thiam, meant that she improved the world’s best result with a score of 5055 points and took the gold of the European event for herself.
The Polish Athletics Association published on Tuesday a list of 67 people who will take part in the upcoming world championships. The name Sułek is missing on it, although the decision of the athlete born in Bydgoszcz has not been officially announced. As the Athletic News profile, well-informed in the realities of the “queen of sport”, wrote on Twitter, Sułek’s absence is not related to the doping reports appearing in the media. The player herself is to present the reason for not going to the championships in the near future.
