On November 14, 2018, she announced her retirement. Last year she won the Australian Open Legends Tournament, but she does not intend to return to professional playing.
Radwańska explains the reasons for the decision
Currently, the icon of Polish sport has a new passion, which is padel. He treats this discipline as entertainment and an opportunity to maintain proper physical shape. However, she is not in a hurry to play tennis for several reasons.
– I never had such thoughts. After the end of your career, there are always moments of doubt and fear that you made a bad decision, and there is regret. I absolutely didn’t have that. From month to month I became more convinced that it was the best decision I could have made. It never occurred to me to come back – emphasized Radwańska in an interview with Interia.
Health problems cannot allow Agnieszka Radwańska to return to competition at the highest level. The Pole has already struggled with them during her career, and now there are also moments when it is not the best. Recently she was dealing with bursitis.
– Let’s face it, my playing now has nothing to do with professionalism. I play padel or tennis only for myself, to stay in shape, to continue to be in this environment and play tournaments – exhibition tournaments or legend tournaments. But this is absolutely not training to play professionally, Radwańska added.
This brings a smile to her face
The 34-year-old admitted that questions about her return to professional tennis are starting to make her smile. It’s mainly because she realizes that it’s just not real.
