Magda Linette broke the bad streak. A sure triumph

Magda Linette started the WTA 500 Abu Dhabi tournament well. The Pole defeated Filipina Alexandra Eala in two sets, although a tie-break was needed in the first set.

Magda Linette cannot describe the beginning of the season as a success. Poland quickly said goodbye to the Australian Open. What stood in her way was not so much Caroline Wozniacki, but an injury. The tournament semi-finalist from Melbourne last year had to forfeit the match and take care of her health. It was immediately known that the break would not last long, but the 31-year-old had to give up the doubles competition.

Magda Linette successfully entered the WTA Abu Dhabi

Linette approaches the tournament in Dubai hoping to improve her mood after a significant drop in the rankings. The tennis player from Poznań fell out of the top fifty, losing the title of Poland’s second racket to Magdalena Fręch. However, in the match against Alexandra Eeala, she was the clear favorite and she lived up to expectations.

The beginning of the match included numerous exchanges between the ladies. None of them wanted to give up and be defeated by their rival. However, the Filipina, who started with a wild card, was able to impose her own pace of play, which made it difficult for the Pole. In the second part of the set, both players had break balls. However, none of them ended in breakthrough. The fate was decided by a tie-break won by the older tennis player 7:4.

There was no such strong fight in the second set. The young Filipina immediately lost her serve. Although she later did the same and the score was 1:1, all subsequent games belonged to Linette. The Polish woman confidently won, although her opponent was able to lead to an advantage game. Ultimately, she lost all her services on her own serve, and the Pole could enjoy winning and advancing to the next round.
