The tournament ends quickly for Magda Linette. The Pole says goodbye to Indian Wells

Magda Linette ended her adventure with this year's edition of the tournament in Indian Wells already during the first match. The Pole lost to Taylor Townsend, suffering a painful defeat.

Magda Linette made a significant advancement in the WTA ranking last year. In the current season, it has already lost many places it had previously won. The Pole still cannot enter the current competition well, which has been reflected in her ranking points. She didn't stay in Indian Wells for long. In the first match of the tournament, the hosts' representative, Taylor Townsend, lost 6:3, 6:7, 1:6.

Linette left for the game much later than she should have. Her match was initially scheduled for Wednesday local time, but due to heavy rainfall it was postponed to the next day. Also on Thursday, the players had problems with optimal play. This time the wind did its job. The start of the match was better for Townsend, but the 32-year-old held on to the result. When the American broke it, she responded in the same way. Later, Linette gained a two-game advantage and even another break of her opponent did not help when the Pole did the same thing again. The player even saved two break points, and finally, after winning the first set ball, she triumphed 6:3.

It seemed that the representative of the White and Reds was in good shape that day. She entered the next game brilliantly and was the first to win on her opponent's serve. The American had to chase the Pole and she did it because she was losing the advantage she had gained. What's more, Linette fought fiercely for the tie-break because she was losing 5:6. Ultimately, the decision needed a tie-break, in which Townsend did better, winning by 3.

The third set was a one-sided match in favor of the American. She did almost whatever she wanted in it, allowing Linette to score just a game. Fueled by good play and her own fans, she confidently won 6:1, dismissing the experienced Pole.

Taylor Townsend keeps playing

In the next round of the WTA tournament in Indian Wells, Taylor Townsend will play against Anna Kalinska.
