Inspection of judges after the Szmydt case? Ryszard Kalisz for "Wprost": Where there is classified material, there is a "centrifuge"

– In Poland we have almost 11,000. judges. It would not be easy for the Internal Security Agency to conduct a check on every judge's access to classified information. Besides, there is no such need – says Ryszard Kalisz, a member of the National Electoral Commission, in an interview with “Wprost”.

Eliza Olczyk, “Wprost”: The story of judge Tomasz Szmydt, who fled to Belarus and may have been a spy, has been electrifying public opinion for several days. It turns out that ex officio judges have access to classified and secret information. So do prosecutors. Should this change?

Ryszard Kalisz: Let's set our intentions with strength.

In Poland we have almost 11,000. judges. It would not be easy for the Internal Security Agency to conduct a check on every judge's access to classified information. There is no need for that anyway.

Judges in family, civil and, to a large extent, criminal courts do not have to be checked.

However, those judges who deal with classified information should be checked and only then decide when they have the appropriate ABW certificate. I have no doubt about that. Such dismissal of all judges en bloc is counterproductive.

So who should be subject to inspection by the services?
