Ewa Swoboda did it again. This is the eighth such success!
As expected, Ewa Swoboda won the gold medal in the Polish Indoor Championships. This is her eighth such triumph in her career!
This time, the 60-meter sprint competition was planned in an unusual way. Typically, these competitions are the culmination of the event. However, in 2024 it was decided differently. Both the qualifying rounds and the final took place on Saturday evening. Although the individual races were very interesting, they ended as everyone could have predicted – Ewa Swoboda won another gold medal, continuing the great series.
Polish Indoor Championships. Eliminations as planned
In the first qualifying race, Magdalena Stefanowicz led from the very beginning and did not give up the lead until the end. She crossed the finish line with a time of 7.19 seconds, significantly ahead of Martyna Kotwiła, who was second, who achieved a time of 7.38.
There was a repeat in the second race, but no one was excluded. After a while, the competitors started, and Jagoda Mierzyńska won in the finish with a time of 7.28. She won the competition with Kryscina Cimanouska by 1 hundredth. The sprinter from Belarus was stuck in the blocks at the beginning, she had to make up for the losses, but she didn't fully succeed.
Only in the third qualifying race did we see the runner whom fans always wait for the most. Of course, it's about Ewa Swoboda. The athlete from Żory gained a huge advantage over her opponents, but that's nothing surprising. She crossed the finish line with a time of 7.09 seconds, which is still far from her maximum capabilities. For comparison, the second place, Aleksandra Piotrowska, achieved a result of 7.31 seconds. Moreover, Aleksandra Krawczyk and Nikola Horowska also reached the finals.
Ewa Swoboda is the best again
However, we didn't see any surprise in the finale. Swoboda turned out to be the best again, winning the competition with a large advantage over her opponents. She improved her result compared to the eliminations by 4 hundredths of a second. Cimanouska was second (7.25 seconds) and Stefanowicz third (7.26).
For the 27-year-old, it was the eighth gold medal won at the Polish Indoor Championships. Since 2015, the sprinter has only given the title to another competitor twice. Five years ago, Marika Popowicz-Drapała triumphed, although it can be assumed that it would have been different if Swoboda had started then. It was similar in 2016.
