Tension in the ruling coalition. Anna Maria Żukowska vulgarly addressed Szymon Hołownia. The Left MP did not mince her words when commenting on the Speaker of the Sejm's statement about abortion.
During an open meeting in Tychy, Szymon Hołownia spoke on the liberalization of abortion law. – We have differences in the coalition regarding abortion. When talking about this issue, we need peace and patience so that, while fighting for good, we do not introduce more evil, said the Marshal of the Sejm.

In the opinion of the head of Poland 2050, “in the current political situation, there is a greater chance of changing the abortion law in a referendum than in the Sejm.” The Marshal explained that the current Sejm is much more conservative than Polish society, which is why his political formation proposes holding a referendum. He added that it would be very difficult to obtain a majority for the liberalization of abortion in the Sejm, although in his opinion there was a chance that the bills would reach the second reading.
The politician noted that all parties in the ruling coalition had clearly declared their position on abortion law from the very beginning. – The Third Way has always said honestly: in our country, everyone votes with their own conscience, but when it comes to what needs to be done, first of all, we need to start saving women as soon as possible with this bill, which we have described as rescue – some call it compromise plus – and hold a referendum immediately, explained Szymon Hołownia.
Abortion law and the future of the coalition
At the same time, the politician warned against actions that – in the context of changes to the abortion law – could threaten the coalition. – I would like to say to all those who today would like to shake the hope that Poles gained on October 15: think again whether it is worth it. Because the stakes on the table are huge, epoch-making, the likes of which haven't been seen for years, he added.

Szymon Hołownia's translations did not convince all members of the ruling coalition. The words that “you need peace and patience so that when you fight for good you do not introduce more evil” clearly irritated Anna Maria Żukowska. “Fuck off with this calmness,” the Left MP wrote on social media.
Outrage after Szymon Hołownia's decision
Last week, great emotions were caused by the decision of the Speaker of the Sejm to postpone the debate on abortion projects to April 11. MPs from the Left were outraged by this fact. – You replaced the parliamentary freezer with a smiling refrigerator. Apparently there are no hidden projects in the drawers, and that's exactly what you are doing, said Anna Maria Żukowska in the Sejm.
– Marshal Hołownia is afraid of priests, bishops and Catholic doctors. It's time to stop being afraid. Being a marshal means that sometimes you have to make difficult decisions. If someone is afraid of bishops, maybe he should not be a politician – argued Katarzyna Kotula, Minister of Equality, in an interview with Gazeta.pl.
