KO MP Krzysztof Brejza was critical of the reports about the departure of the police chief. “The ‘grenade gunner’ received an increase in his service allowance of PLN 6,000 upon his departure. His pension will be approximately PLN 21,000.” – wrote on X Brejza.

According to unofficial media reports, Chief Police Commander Jarosław Szymczyk is to retire this week.

Failure to launch a grenade launcher

His police service began in 1990 in Gliwice. He took up the position of police chief in 2016. In 2018, he was promoted to Inspector General of Police, which is the highest possible rank in this formation.

Szymczyk’s tenure as police chief was not without mishaps. One of the most famous was Szymczyk firing a grenade launcher in his own office in 2022. The grenade launcher was a gift that Szymczyk received from his counterpart from Ukraine.

Brejza: A gross cash grab

Krzysztof Brejza, an MP from the Civic Coalition, commented on speculations about the police chief’s departure. The information he provided shows that Szymczyk’s salary component has recently been increased, which will affect the amount of his pension.

“The ‘grenade gunner’ received an increase in his service allowance of PLN 6,000 upon his departure. His pension will be approximately PLN 21,000. Provincial Commanders 4,000 each. those he liked, and the neutral ones after 2,000. Currently, 8 KWP are planning to leave. There has never been such a vulgar cash grab in the Police,” the KO MP wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Calculations by the “Business Insider” portal show that in connection with leaving the service, Szymczyk will receive a severance pay of approximately PLN 163,000. zloty. It is worth noting, however, that the amount of severance pay is not discretionary, but based on calculations based on the provisions of the Police Act.
