Another airline will make money on hand luggage. Tourists will feel the changes

On many airlines today, free hand luggage is mainly limited to a small handbag or backpack. You have to pay for additional things that you want to have with you during the flight. Although we associate these principles with, among others, with Ryanair or Wizz Air, now they are also introduced by new brands.

Recently, the market has been informed that the KM Malta Airlines network has decided on a revolutionary solution. It was she who announced that she was ending the free hand luggage allowance that had been in force there until now. Any passenger who takes more than a small bag will spend extra money. This solution has been operating in Wizz Air and Ryanair for a long time. Currently, the Dutch low-cost airline Transavia is preparing changes.

No more free hand luggage in the next line

Transavia decided that, like its low-cost competitors, it wanted to make money from hand luggage. According to Aviation24, CFO Steven Zaat said that he has already talked to investors about introducing a fee aimed at increasing additional sources of revenue. The network has noticed the growing trend of passengers deciding to take hand luggage with them during shorter trips and intends to take advantage of it.

Interestingly, the carrier noted that additional fees will be, in a sense, a bonus for people who do not take too many things on board. After the changes, anyone who wants to bring a small unregistered suitcase or a larger backpack, as well as plastic bags onto the plane, will purchase a seat in advance. At the moment, the rates that Transavia wants to introduce are not yet known.

This was the case in Transavia. Tourists will lose a lot

So far, tourists traveling with a low-cost Dutch airline have not had to worry about having problems with their hand luggage. After making changes, you will need to be more careful and carefully calculate the weight or size of your luggage. Currently, passengers can carry hand luggage weighing up to 10 kg and measuring 55 x 35 x 25 cm.

Moreover, there is a rule on board that the above-mentioned hand bags can only be carried by 70 people boarding. The rest can put things in the luggage compartment for free. It is also free to take accessories and items measuring 40 x 30 x 20 cm, provided that we place them under the seat.
