A surprising voice from the PiS camp. “Kamiński and Wąsik should not run”
– I am not convinced that they should take part in the European elections – comments PiS MP Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski on the potential electoral start of the pardoned politicians.
The leadership of Law and Justice is planning to build electoral lists for the elections to the European Parliament. Unofficially, specific names were to be mentioned on January 30 during a meeting of the presidium of the party’s Political Committee.
The top people on the list included Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik, who were pardoned by President Andrzej Duda a week ago. They are allowed to run in the elections by the fact that the law of pardon applied by the president also orders the expungement of convictions.
Ardanowski: I’m not convinced they should
Almost everyone is convinced that the pardoned politicians will run away. Also those who sit on the opposite side of the plenary hall in the Sejm. – I am convinced that both of them are on the lists for the European Parliament. Today, I can bet anyone a large prize that Kamiński and Wąsik will run for the European Parliament and there they will show that they were political prisoners – said Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski moments after the pardon.
Surprisingly, the opposite opinion on the profitability of Kamiński and Wąsik’s electoral run appears in Law and Justice. – On the one hand, we are convinced that Kamiński and Wąsik fought corruption and for that they deserve a reward, and on the other hand, we have specific allegations related to the land scandal – said Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, PiS MP, in an interview with SuperExpress.
The MP recommends that the party reflect
He added that he is not convinced that politicians should run in the European elections. – However, the party leadership will decide and bear all the consequences of this choice – he said, recommending that the leadership reflect on what led to the loss of power.
– PiS must think very seriously about the lost elections and think about its future in politics in terms of long-term activities. He must analyze what happened that, despite the various good things we introduced, Poles questioned it and did not believe Law and Justice, Ardanowski told the daily.
Preliminary letters to the European Parliament
However, if the party leadership does not listen to his advice and the unofficial lists from the last meeting of the Political Committee remain final, Mariusz Kamiński will open the list in the Lublin region and Maciej Wąsik in the Mazovia region.
Daniel Obajtek, who would take over the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and Małgorzata Gosiewska, who will take part in Warsaw and several adjacent counties, are also expected to be at the top of the lists. After Kamiński, Przemysław Czarnek would be on the list, and after Obajtek, Zbigniew Ziobro.
