Will Iga Świątek not play in the WTA Finals? The images from Mexico are disturbing

It must be admitted that the venue of the tournament, which in theory is supposed to be a celebration of the season for the best tennis players in the world, leaves a lot to be desired. Iga Świątek should play her match today (i.e. October 30) in Cancun, Mexico. But will the Pole actually play?

Thunder has been falling on the WTA for several weeks. The most eloquent one from several hours ago came from the leader of the ranking of tennis players, Aryna Sabalenka. The player born in Minsk openly criticized the way in which the organization of the WTA Finals was invented. Instead of a tennis celebration, players have to struggle with many problems. One of the things that makes life most difficult are weather conditions.

Downpour over Cancun, will the WTA Finals matches take place?

Just look at the entries posted by Polish journalists who are in Mexico, closely observing the absurd decision of the WTA. Mexico is currently affected by heavy rainfall. The images appearing on social media left no doubt a few hours ago.

Additionally, gusty wind is another problem, as it turns theoretically hit matches into a lottery, in which one of the tennis players may simply be luckier when hitting the ball.

Although the weather was supposed to improve slightly over time, a break in the weather cannot be ruled out. For this reason, it is difficult to clearly determine whether the duel involving Iga Świątek will actually take place according to the planned schedule. The Polish woman will face the winner of this year’s Wimbledon in her first match in Mexico.

Iga Świątek – Marketa Vondrousova, when and where to watch?

The first WTA Finals meeting with the participation of the WTA ranking runner-up is scheduled for Monday, late evening, Polish time. The fight between Iga Świątek and Marketa Vondrousova starts at 11 p.m.

Matches of the tournament in Mexico will be shown on Canal+ Sport. The online broadcast will be available via Canal+ online.

It is worth adding that the Pole may even regain the position of leader of the world ranking in Mexico. However, this will most likely require the victory of Świątek in the entire tournament and a slightly worse performance of the mentioned Sabalenka.
