Ultimately, our representatives took 22nd and 25th place, respectively, and the 33-year-old from Nowy Targ advanced eight positions in the general World Cup standings. All Polish jumpers passed the qualifications for the main competition, but Paweł Wąsek could not start in the first series. When entering the ski jump, the 24-year-old took a bag with his equipment, including: ski-boots. At one point he went to the toilet, leaving his things by the door. When he came out, the bag was gone. Everything indicates that there was a bizarre mistake and one of the volunteers sent the bag down the hill, believing that it belonged to a competitor who had already changed his clothes for the jump. Thomas Thurnbichler was furious about this situation.

— If a player can’t calmly go to the bathroom and have his bag of equipment waiting for him when he comes back, I don’t know what the point is. There was also a lack of proper communication between the jury and coaches. We didn’t have the information before. None of the organizers were open to discussion, claiming that it was Paweł’s responsibility. It’s all completely incomprehensible, said Thomas Thurnbichler in an interview with Eurosport.

Although Kamil Stoch and Aleksander Zniszczoł did not manage to qualify for the second series, the Austrian believes that sooner or later the results of the entire team will come. At the same time, he pointed out what is currently the biggest problem of the Polish national team. – The biggest problem remains the technique, which is not the best. Our role as coaches is to find the best possible solution to properly prepare the team, added the coach.
