The Polish national team still has a chance to directly qualify for the Euro. Possible scenarios
By drawing with Moldova 1-1, Polish players again complicated the situation in Group E. Despite everything, they still have a chance to directly advance to Euro 2024. These conditions must be met.
After six rounds of qualifying for Euro 2024 in Germany and after defeats with the Czech Republic, Moldova and Albania, Polish players quite unexpectedly had everything in their hands again. It was enough to defeat the teams of Moldova and the Czech Republic to secure promotion to the European Championships.
Poles complicated the situation in group E
Unfortunately, Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Moldova significantly complicated the situation in Group E. The Albanians are leading with 13 points after six matches, and the Czechs are second, having won the match against the Faroe Islands 1-0 and now have 11 points and also two matches to be played (against Poland and Moldova). The Poles have one point less and one less game to play. Fourth-placed Moldova is one point behind the Reds and Whites and has two more games to play – against Albania and the Czech Republic.
Place | Representation: | Matches: | Goal balance: | Points: |

1. | Albania | 6 | 11:3 | 13 |
2. | The czech republic | 6 | 8:5 | 11 |
3. | Poland | 7 | 9:9 | 10 |
4. | Moldova | 6 | 6:6 | 9 |
5. | Faroe Islands | 7 | 2:13 | 1 |
Poles can still directly advance to the Euro. This has to happen
Michał Probierz’s players still have a chance to directly advance to Euro 2024, but again not everything will be in our hands and we will have to look to our rivals. The key matches here will be Moldova-Albania and Czech Republic-Moldova. So what needs to happen?
- Poland defeats the Czechs
- Albania wins against Moldova
- Moldova draws with the Czech Republic
All these conditions must be met for the White and Reds to qualify for the European Championships. It may be difficult, but this scenario is not impossible to achieve.
If there is no direct promotion to Euro 2024, the White and Reds still have a chance to go to this championship through the play-offs. Our lifeline is the Nations League and the ranking of this competition, in which we are currently in 11th position. At the moment, Polish players would be fighting against the Netherlands, Croatia and Estonia, the best team in the D division, to advance to the European Championship.
