Tragedy during a competition in the Himalayas

73-year-old Andrzej Kulawik took off from Bir Billing on Monday, October 23. According to reports from local residents, they saw Andrzej Kulawik flying over the village of Kareri at the foot of Dhauladhar. It is located approximately 25 km northwest of Dharamshala. This is where the trace of the Pole ends.

A paraglider from Poland was forced to make an emergency landing due to the drastic deterioration of weather conditions in the place where he was flying.

Hitesh Lakhanpal from the local police said that an air and ground search had already been launched at the time of his disappearance. However, a day later, rescue and search procedures were suspended. The Indian services did not provide specific reasons – according to the missing person’s daughter. However, the officers still failed to find the Pole. The situation is made more difficult by the fact that the batteries in his radio died during the flight, while he was still visible. However, investigators managed to find his paraglider.

A moving entry by Andrzej Kulawik’s daughter

Andrzej Kulawik’s daughter spoke on the matter. In a lengthy post posted on social media, she stated that it may already be too late to save the man. “We know my father’s location and it is certain that he was alive after landing. Today we received information that the helicopter will go there tomorrow. It’s too late. We have lost hope,” wrote Alicja Kulawik, thanking everyone who was and still is involved in the search operation.

“The worst thing that can happen is when someone you love slowly dies, waiting for your help, alone, and there is nothing you can do about it. I wouldn’t wish this experience even on my worst enemy. Your heart and soul dies with this person, piece by piece. Thank you to everyone who helped us and had good intentions. I love you, dad,” she added.
