The legendary player fell to his knees. The derby cost him a lot of nerves

NovyHotel Falubaz Zielona Góra could have had a valuable win in the PGE Ekstraliga. However, he lost to ebut.pl Stal Gorzów, and we saw a telling scene at the end.

The team from Zielona Góra had just finished the classic with Fogo Unia Leszno, and they already had an even more important match in the PGE Ekstraliga ahead of them. We are talking about the first Lubusz Land Derby in three years. NovyHotel Falubaz kept in touch with ebut.pl Stal Gorzów for a long time, but ultimately had to accept the superiority of the cross-country rival, losing 41:49. The last three races turned out to be deadly, as Stanisław Chomski's players won 13:5. After twelve races, the scoreboard showed a draw of 36:36. This time, Jarosław Hampel had a slightly weaker match, as he behaved eloquently after his last run.

Jarosław Hampel couldn't believe the defeat

So far, in each of the three PGE Ekstraliga matches, Hampel was the leader of Falubaz, and he showed his great performance especially in Leszno, where he scored 14 points in a match against Fogo Unia. Then only Janusz Kołodziej beat him. In the competition with Stal, he scored 8 points and it was the first match this season in which he did not score double digits.

As for the nominated races, Hampel ran in the fourteenth race. Initially, he and Przemysław Pawlicki took a double lead, but Anders Thomsen, who was phenomenal that day, first overtook Pawlicki, and at the finish line Hampel. The experienced speedway rider couldn't get over it.

Canal+ Sport reporter Łukasz Benz revealed that after this race Hampel was the main actor in a telling scene. He fell on his knees in front of Piotr Protasiewicz, the director of Falubaz, because he was convinced that he would win against Thomsen. You can see how the 42-year-old experienced the match, and we are talking about a titled speedway rider. You could feel the nervous atmosphere in the hosts' ranks, because a possible victory against Stal would give the newcomer great comfort in the table.

– We made too many mistakes that I didn't really expect, mainly on the route. You can't do that with such evenly matched teams. We took the wrong driving lines. The lost positions at the finish line resulted from this. Not everyone was able to withstand the hardships of this derby match, said Protasiewicz in a conversation with Benz.

Falubaz leaves a good impression

In all matches this season, the team from Zielona Góra shows that they are a brave team. If they had won against the nine-time Polish champion, they would have advanced to third place in the table with five points.

Looking at the problems that several teams have, it could be said that if there were no injuries, Falubaz would have a way to stay in the league, which is the primary goal. However, as Protasiewicz emphasizes, the defeat against Stal does not mean that the season will be lost, because many good things can still happen for his team.
