Siemoniak: The services did not deal with Judge Szmydt, I absolutely deny it
Coordinating Minister for Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak emphasized that our country's intelligence services did not deal with the person of Judge Tomasz Szmydt. In “Kropka nad i” on TVN 24, he drew attention to his suspicious behavior.
At the very beginning of the interview, Minister Siemoniak responded positively to the interviewer's question about the alleged espionage activities of Judge Szmydt. – Everything points to him being a spy. The prosecutor's investigation concerns espionage, which has the hallmarks of such action, attacking Poland in the Belarusian or Russian media. We have no doubt that Szmydt is in the employ of foreign services, admitted the politician.
Siemoniak is surprised by Szmydt's case: He did not act in an isolated reality
– All threads related to him have been intensively investigated since Monday, when he revealed himself in Minsk. A certain picture will emerge from this, it will show his motivations, he assured. At the same time, he added that it is untrue that Tomasz Szmydt had previously been under the eye of the Polish services. – The services did not deal with Judge Szmydt, I absolutely deny it. They are not involved in surveillance of judges and prosecutors. They have been dealing with it since Monday, he emphasized.
Siemoniak was surprised that a judge known for his hate scandal and unusual behavior remained out of any control for so long. – A year ago, Szmydt was in Belarus and it did not attract the slightest attention of the PiS services – he noted. – Looking at this whole figure, it's strange that no one noticed the extravagance of this person. Disciplinary proceedings with very ambiguous behavior towards a media representative… He did not act in an isolated reality – reminded the minister.
Tomasz Szmydt, known for the hate scandal
Judge of the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw, Tomasz Szmydt, asked the Belarusian authorities for asylum. On the same day, at a press conference in Minsk, he also read a declaration of resignation from his position. – Yes, I am asking for political refugee status – he said in an interview with the Russian TASS agency.
The domestic media immediately recalled that Szmydt was the hero of the “hater scandal” during the PiS government. He is the ex-husband of the most famous Polish hater, known under the nickname “Mała Emi”. In the “Caste” group created on WhatsApp, he allegedly wrote to the former first president of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Gersdorf: “I advise you to pack up, say goodbye and f**k off!!!”
In 2018, Szmydt became director of the legal department in the office of the National Council of the Judiciary reformed by PiS. After Onet described the hate scandal, the president of the Supreme Administrative Court withdrew the judge's delegation to the National Council of the Judiciary.
