Petru clearly about state-owned companies. "I am in favor of having as few of them as possible"

– I know that the government coalition may have a different opinion – said Ryszard Petru, once again commenting on the future of State Treasury companies.

Ryszard Petru returned to the Sejm after four years. However, he did not get there through Nowoczesna, which he created at the beginning of 2015, but thanks to the lists of the Third Way. Szymon Hołownia pulled him up. The politician, despite often differing opinions, clearly declares – he will vote for the club’s dictate.

Ryszard Petru proposes analyzing state-owned companies

An economist, because that’s what Petru is most associated with, he brings many ideas to the Sejm. However, as he himself claims, the future government will not necessarily have everything in its favor. An example of this is the privatization of State Treasury companies, which the politician openly supported. Now he proposes “to analyze which ones are actually strategic.”

– I am in favor of having as few of them as possible, but I know that the government coalition may have a different opinion on this matter. From my point of view, it is crucial that companies operate in an environment of market competition, do not use dumping and are not subsidized by the state. Then they will not spoil the market, which we have unfortunately had to do recently, let me just mention Orlen’s actions – he said in an interview with Puls Biznesu.

Nevertheless, Petru is convinced that changes are needed in the management positions of companies, and people who sat in them due to political reasons will not be able to continue to perform their functions. However, it does not assume “setting the broom in motion”. In his opinion, everything should be analyzed “position by position, company by company”.

Ryszard Petru doubts the continuation of all government projects

The politician is sure that the projects currently carried out by the government, such as the Central Communication Port (CPK), should also be reviewed. – It is impossible to implement all the dug-in projects. Gigantomania does not improve the quality of life of Poles. The Polish People’s Republic loved gigantomania and it led to bankruptcy. The money allocated for a large part of PiS ideas can be much better spent, e.g. on local projects, said Petru.

– Today we have a state budget that is not subject to parliamentary control. Funds such as the Polish Development Fund or 20 funds subordinate to BGK, the most bizarre of which is the COVID-19 Prevention Fund. Its existence is planned until the end of 2026, but we do not have to convince ourselves that the pandemic has long ended, he added.

It will take at least four years to introduce the euro

Although Ryszard Petru has been declaring support for the introduction of the euro in Poland for years, he is aware that it is almost impossible to do it within the next four years. – We are able to introduce the euro as soon as possible, three years after the start of the procedure, and this would only be possible after the situation in public finances has been cleared, which in an optimistic scenario would take a year. This means that it would be extremely difficult in this parliamentary term, he said.
