List of the tallest buildings in the world
Humanity has always felt the need to break new records. One of the areas where this can be seen every day is construction. Architects are competing with each other in ideas for building the tallest building in the world. The list of the tallest structures has changed significantly in recent years. Below is a list of the tallest skyscrapers.
Temples and town halls used to be the tallest buildings in cities. Today, this role is mainly played by office buildings and hotels. Building higher and higher skyscrapers is not only a result of fantasy and the desire to break records. The second reason is much less romantic: constantly rising land prices. To make investments profitable in some places, a sufficiently large, often close to record, number of storeys is needed.
When it became important for people which building was the tallest, it was necessary to create one, universal method of measuring its height. It was therefore assumed that the height would be measured from the lowest entrance to the building, accessible to passers-by, to the highest point of the skyscraper, without taking into account antennas or masts. According to this method, over 3,400 buildings that exceeded 150 meters in height have been classified to date.
