Leszczyna: A self-amendment to the budget is needed to implement our promises
The topic of the state budget for 2024 is one of the main axes around which the political debate is currently taking place. However, KO vice-chairman Izabela Leszczyna also points out other problems that need to be solved.
Not only the issues of the state budget for 2024, but also other challenges related to public finances, may prove to be a challenge for the new government of the united opposition. Izabela Leszczyna, vice-chairman of the Civic Platform, spoke about other problems on TVN24.
KNF: Prime Minister Morawiecki should not appoint a new chairman
The vice-chairwoman of the Civic Platform pointed out places where the outgoing government can still cause confusion and make the work of the new cabinet more difficult.
– Maybe a few more positions can be cemented. Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. The term of office of its chairman ends in November, long after the elections. This prime minister (Mateusz Morawiecki – editor’s note) should not appoint a new chairman, but I expect the worst from PiS – said Izabela Leszczyna, vice-chairman of the Civic Platform.
Leszczyna on scandals at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority
Izabela Leszczyna mentioned that what has happened in recent years at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority is disturbing and needs to be explained.
– Let us remember how the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, ruled by PiS nominees, made history. There were scandals, it was a corruption scandal, in which we do not know whether President Glapiński was involved in it, the renting of a huge office building from a Cypriot company for PLN 20 million on the basis of a contract that cannot be terminated, it was the GetBack scandal, in which harms thousands of people and which is swept under the carpet by the Ziobro prosecutor’s office – she said.
The Polish Financial Supervision Authority is a very important institution that supervises the financial market and is, to some extent, responsible for its stability, she added.
Budget for 2024. Autocorrect needed
– We need to introduce our first specifics, at least through a self-amendment to the budget, i.e. a raise for teachers and a tax-free allowance of PLN 60,000. zloty. We want to implement our 100 specifics and our coalition partners their electoral commitments – admitted the PO vice-chairman.
