Lasek about CPK costs. “We can't afford to spend…”
Fundamentally, we need to expand the country's transport system. But we cannot afford to spend PLN 155 billion by 2030 on the second stage of the CPK, which is not even final – says Maciej Lasek, government plenipotentiary for the CPK, in an interview for oko.press.
Government plenipotentiary for CPK Maciej Lasek in an interview for oko.press. says, among others: about CPK costs. – Our predecessors said that the airport would cost PLN 44 billion. But they did not add associated investments, railways, road networks, etc. And the railway alone – to connect it to the CPK – would cost at least PLN 30 billion. We have to face high costs, around PLN 70-80 billion – says Lasek.
Can't afford CPK?
Referring to the voices of politicians from the ruling coalition (Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and MP of the Left Paulina Matysiak) that we can afford to implement the CPK project, Lasek states: – I don't know where this belief comes from, because the situation of state finances inherited from the PiS government is, to put it mildly, not the best. This is an expensive project and I am a bit surprised that a representative of the Left, who should be closer to popularizing cheap public transport and eliminating transport exclusion, promotes such an expensive and exclusive transport system such as HSR and air transport.
– Fundamentally, we need to expand the country's transport system. But we cannot afford to spend PLN 155 billion by 2030 on the second stage of the CPK, which is not even final. At the same time, we are competing with the PLN 200 billion that must be spent on a nuclear power plant and huge expenditure on armament – because we live in difficult times – says Lasek.
The government's plenipotentiary for the CPK summarizes that “all these projects are necessary.” However, “we should consider how to phase them.”
