Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that KO, Nowa Lewica, PSL and PL 2050 had reached an agreement on the Senate pact. “A great chance to win the Senate. Not for 51 seats, as recently – emphasized the leader of the peasant party.
On Tuesday, August 8, President Andrzej Duda announced the date of the parliamentary elections. We will go to the polls on October 15. Thus, the election campaign officially began.

Last week, there were reports that the opposition had managed to reach an agreement on the Senate pact. It is about the list of candidates for the Senate, which will be issued jointly by Koalicja Obywatelska, Nowa Lewica, PSL and Polska 2050.
On Wednesday, August 9, this was confirmed by PSL chairman Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in the “Graffiti” program on Polsat TV. However, he stipulated that a decision on 2-3 places on the list has still not been made. When will the leaders of these groups present the Senate pact to the public?
– We agreed that after the announcement of the election by the president. We do not have a set date for the presentation yet (…) I want to confirm one thing – the Senate pact is already a thing. It has been closed. The last two or three names that were in the research will still be settled this week (…) The opposition does not harm itself, a great chance to win in the Senate. Not for 51 seats like last time, but for 60-65 seats. We are fighting for this result – commented the leader of the People’s Party.
What about the candidacy of Roman Giertych?
Kosiniak-Kamysz also referred to speculations regarding the appearance of Roman Giertych on the list. At the beginning of August, they were fueled by Szymon Hołownia, who admitted that during the negotiations on the Senate pact he reported the name of Giertych.
– He is not on the list of these candidates – the leader of the People’s Party dispelled doubts.

Let us remind you that on Tuesday, August 8, the presence of Giertych on the joint list of the opposition to the Senate was also excluded by the deputy chairman of the New Left, Robert Biedroń.
– I can announce it to you in Trójka (…) Attorney Giertych will not be there, he has not been officially reported and negotiated by any group that participated in the creation of the Senate pact (…) A place for Roman Giertych would not be natural there . This is the godfather of the Confederation – concluded Biedroń.
