The European Commission accepted Poland's first application for payment from the KPO. The Minister of Funds and Regional Policy announced that the amount of over EUR 6 billion should be in Poland on April 15.

“The European Commission has just accepted our first application for payment from the KPO! Now we are just waiting for the transfer. EUR 6.3 billion should be in Poland on April 15. Forward!” – wrote Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on social media.

The EC accepted the application for the payment of EUR 6 billion from the KPO

Poland submitted the first application for payment from the National Reconstruction Plan in mid-January 2024, 1.5 years after the European Commission accepted the Polish Plan. In February, the Commission issued a preliminary positive assessment of the first Polish application for EUR 6.3 billion. The Commission also informed that this amount was 10.5%. funds from the Polish National Reconstruction Plan, consisting of EUR 2.69 billion in grants and EUR 3.63 billion in loans.

Yesterday, Pełczyńska-Nałęcz said that Poland wants to submit further payment applications and “our ambition is to submit (…) the second and third ones right after the holidays.”

The head of the Ministry of FiPR said that at the end of April the Council of Ministers intends to adopt the KPO renegotiation package, which will then be sent to the European Commission. Public consultations on the revised KPO are already underway, and a public hearing is scheduled to take place on April 8. The consultations will last until April 15. As part of the KPO update, the following were abandoned: from the tax on internal combustion cars and this is currently being negotiated “very assertively” by the Ministry of Funds with the EU. The revision covers 11 out of 55 reforms (8 from the grant part and 3 from the loan part) and 22 out of 56 investments (14 from the grant part and 8 from the loan part of the KPO).
