Grzegorz Krychowiak with regret for Fernando Santos. He blames it
Grzegorz Krychowiak will spend the next season in the Arab league. After a year of playing in Al-Shabab, he went to Abha FC, a team led by the former head coach of the Polish national team, Czesław Michniewicz. The new coach of the White and Reds does not see the midfielder in his team. The footballer does not hide his regret about the way Fernando Santos treated him.
After the outbreak of the war in Russia, Grzegorz Krychowiak had to change his surroundings. He could not imagine continuing to play in the country that attacked Ukraine. First, he went on a short loan to AEK Athens. He spent last season in the Arab Al-Shabab, where he scored three goals in 30 matches. With 98 caps for the national team, the player currently also plays in the Saudi Professional League.
Grzegorz Krychowiak with regret for Fernando Santos
The footballer signed a one-year contract (with the possibility of extension for another year) with Abha FC. The former coach of the Polish national team, Czesław Michniewicz, joined the club in June. A month later, he brought Krychowiak to him. In recent days, there has been much talk about joining Łukasz Skorupski, but in the end, the Polish coach bet on former Milan player Ciprian Tatarusanu.
Krychowiak was no longer called up to the national team. The player, who has been the mainstay of the white and red team for years, does not receive appointments from the new coach, Fernando Santos. The footballer accepts this decision, although he regrets how he was treated. The Portuguese did not contact him to inform him of this decision. He learned about the lack of an invitation to the grouping from the Internet. He told about his grief in an interview with WP SportoweFakty.
When you spend 10 years in the national team, that one call from the coach to the player should be something normal. However, it is a symbolic show of respect for a man who played so much for the national team – said Krychowiak. – It was enough to say: “Grzegorz, thanks for everything, but I have other plans”. I would say, “Coach, I understand, good luck.” It seems to me that a footballer who has represented his country for so long does not want to find out about the lack of a call-up from Instagram. There is no need to be afraid of certain conversations – added the Abha FC midfielder.
Abha FC fights in the Saudi Professional League
Abha FC will struggle to stay in the Arab League. In the previous season, the team finished in 12th place.
