The Polish national team has written a unique history. The impressive series lasts 16 years!

Since 2008, Poles have been regularly participating in the European Championships. By advancing to Euro 2024, the Polish national team extended their impressive series on the continent.

The players of the Wales and Polish national teams showed a lot of emotions in the final play-off match for promotion to the European Championships. Ultimately, after a close fight and 120 minutes of play, the Poles won the tickets to the tournament in Germany. The Reds and Whites triumphed in a penalty shootout, winning 5-4.

The Polish national team took part in the European Championships for the fifth time in a row

A place at a Euro tournament was not so obvious for Poles until recently. The White and Reds could not register for the final tournament of the Old Continent Championship for a long time. The first European Championships in history were held in 1960 in France, still called the European Nations Cup. The Poles took part in the qualifying rounds, but in the two-legged match against Spain they were weaker twice. At the Silesian Stadium the score was 2:4 (goals for Poland by Ernest Pohl and Lucjan Brychczy). In the rematch at the famous Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, the Poles lost 0:3.

The first opportunity to see Poland at the Euro football tournament was in 2008. It was a team led by coach Leo Beenhakker. Four years later (2012), Poland played at Euro because they were the hosts, because they organized the tournament together with Ukraine. The next opportunity is in 2016, in France. And the last event, held in many countries, although postponed for a year (2021) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

By advancing to the event in Germany, Poland is one of eight teams that will play in the championship event since 2008. Apart from the Poles, since the event in Portugal, France, Germany, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Czech Republic have been regularly participating in European Championship tournaments.

It must be admitted, a good group.

Poland advances to Euro 2024. Who will they play against in Germany?

Even before the March play-offs began, UEFA drew the groups for this year's European Championship. The Poles will play in Germany against the Netherlands, France and Austria.

Interestingly, only in 2016 did the Polish national team manage to achieve anything at a European Championship event. The team led by coach Adam Nawałka then reached the quarterfinals in France. In 2008, 2012 and 2021, Poles took… the last, fourth places in the groups.

What will it be like in Germany? Coach Probierz's team will certainly face a difficult challenge.
