Father Paweł Gużyński for “Wprost”: Regardless of whether it is done by Tusk, Kaczyński, bishop or Rydzyk – we say NO to it

Father Paweł Gużyński for "Wprost": Regardless of whether it is done by Tusk, Kaczyński, bishop or Rydzyk - we say NO to it

– The brazen use of piety, traditional and full of trust, whether on the part of the hierarchs or Father Rydzyk and Radio Maryja, is disgusting – says in an interview with “Wprost” a Dominican, Father Paweł Gużyński, involved in the social project “Church free from politics “. – I am trying to clearly show that regardless of whether Donald Tusk does it, whether Jarosław Kaczyński does it, whether this or that bishop does it, or Father Rydzyk, we say NO to it every time. Just as sharp and decisive, he adds.

Paulina Socha-Jakubowska, “Wprost”: Is it appropriate to be happy with someone’s defeat?

Father Paweł Gużyński: It depends. If, for example, someone planned some evil and it didn’t work out, then such joy is justified.

So those who today are happy about the “victorious defeat” of PiS should not feel any remorse?

I replied generally. And you’re asking about something specific.

Let’s talk about the elections.

Since we are entering this area, some things need to be said very clearly.

For example?

Of course, the Polish political scene is very polarized and during the election campaign we saw how this degree of brutalization of public discussion was even increasing. And this should not make anyone happy, it is a clearly negative phenomenon.

As part of the “Church free from politics” campaign, we have prepared a special position on this topic. They were beautifully presented by prof. Andrzej Zoll, a man of great personal culture, great social and political experience. And when I looked at his pained face, when he was looking at all this, my heart broke… It’s terrible that we have divided ourselves as a society. And there is no reason to be happy here.

And that’s what this post is about? Let’s assume that some readers don’t know it.

To summarize them: We drew attention to the brutalization of public discourse, its evil mainly lies in the fact that in this way the social fabric is destroyed.

Poles stopped “tolerating” each other on political grounds, on religious grounds, on social differences, for very different reasons. This makes us as a society much weaker, much more susceptible to various types of manipulation…

Thank God there were no very tragic situations during this election campaign, because it could have been worse. We were dealing with murders committed by more or less destabilized individuals, and there were various acts of aggression.
