Closing all crossings with Belarus? The head of the Ministry of National Defense made it clear

The head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak confirmed that in the event of further provocations from Belarus, all border crossings with this country may be closed.

One of the topics in “Signals of the Day” was the threat to Poland from the Wagnerians and provocations against Polish border guards. The head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak was asked about Belarusian helicopters crossing the border.

– It is important to deter the aggressor, hence the greater concentration of the Polish army on the border with Belarus – he said. – If the aggressor dares to make further such provocations, he will receive an answer. Everything must be done prudently, none of us wants war, he stressed.

Closure of border crossings with Belarus. Conversations with Lithuania

The minister added that Poland is in close contact with its allies, including the US. When asked whether a complete closure of border crossings with Belarus is being considered, e.g. in the event of shooting at Polish soldiers or border guards, he replied “of course yes”, if such provocations occur.

– Not only is it about the Polish-Belarusian border crossings, we are also talking to Lithuania on this matter so that such a move is coordinated. We have a sense of community of interests with the Lithuanians in this matter, said the Minister of National Defence.

On Friday, August 4, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, had a conversation with his Lithuanian counterpart, Agnė Bilotaitė. After the talks, a communiqué was published, which shows that the Polish and Lithuanian authorities do not rule out the scenario of closing all border crossings with Belarus.

In recent months, the accusations of Alexander Lukashenko against Poland have intensified. The Belarusian dictator uses, among others, lies about our military’s alleged plans to attack western Ukraine. Another argument put forward by the self-appointed president is the question of the revolution that would take place in Belarus, depending on the success of the Ukrainian counter-offensive. In this also – as he falsely claims – Poles would have their share.
