Are you driving at 140 km/h on the A2 motorway? Be careful, you'll soon get a ticket for this

Sectional speed measurements have been operating effectively in Poland for several years. However, they are still rare on highways and expressways. This will soon change, as more OPPs will appear on expressways near Poznań.

In mid-September, we informed that new speed recording devices will appear on the roads of Greater Poland in the fall. The average speed will be measured on a 2.5-kilometer section of S11 between the Tarnowo Podgórne and Poznań Ławica junctions (Poznań’s western bypass) and an 11-kilometer section of the A2 motorway between Koło and Konin, exactly between the Leonia Kuny passenger service point (MOP) and the toll collection point (PPO) Żdżary. The installation of the new devices is scheduled to be completed in November this year.

OPP between the Poznań Komorniki and Poznań Krzesiny junctions

Now there is information about the new location of the sectional speed measurement on the A2 motorway. This time, speed measuring gates are to appear on the section of the A2 motorway near Poznań. Autostrada Wielkopolska announced that the OPP will be installed on the concession section of A2 between the Poznań Komorniki and Poznań Krzesiny junctions.

OPP in Greater Poland will start operating in November

Preparatory work for the introduction of sectional speed measurement has already begun. On the section of A2 between the Poznań Komorniki and Poznań Luboń junctions and on the fragment between the Poznań Luboń and Poznań Krzesiny junctions, structures have already been placed over the motorway roads, on which measuring devices will be installed in the near future. After their legalization and testing, the system will be launched. This will probably happen in November this year. It is expected that initially the OPP will operate in test mode, i.e. it will measure the speed on a given section, but drivers exceeding the speed limit will not be punished. If the system works flawlessly, after a few days it will switch from test mode to normal mode and start penalizing drivers who break the regulations.

On the Poznań bypass, the limit on the A2 is 120 km/h

Let us remind you that on the concession section of A2 near Poznań, between the Poznań Komorniki and Poznań Krzesiny junctions, a lower speed limit of 120 km/h applies. Drivers traveling on this section of the A2 motorway will therefore have to remain vigilant. Those who forget and drive out of habit at the speed limit of 140 km/h on the highway may receive a costly fine.

As a warning, we would like to remind you of the current tariff of penalty points and fine rates for speeding:
