Apple announces the M3 chip.  It will speed up iMac and MacBook Pro computers

At the Halloween event, Apple showed off its latest M3 chips that will power iMac and MacBook Pro computers. The components are to be even more than twice as fast as the first edition of Apple Silicon.

On the night from Monday to Tuesday, the “Scary Fast” event took place, during which Apple showed new products coming to the company’s computers. The main focus was on the new M3 chip, which will go to iMacs and MackBook Pros.

M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max processors

The key announcement was the introduction of a new family of Apple chips. The M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max processors were created using the latest 3-nanometer technology and are intended to significantly improve performance in graphic tasks or while playing video games.

As Apple announces, overall graphics rendering using M3 chips will be up to 2.5 times faster compared to the M1 family. Significant improvements have been introduced in the unit’s graphics processors, which are expected to be 40-65 percent. faster, depending on version. The computing power of processors increased by 30-80 percent. Also new is Dynamic Caching technology and support for ray tracing and mesh shading techniques.

The latest processors will, of course, power the company’s computer equipment. So Apple also showed the latest computers powered by the M3 chip. The entry-level MacBook Pro model has undergone some changes. It is no longer 13-inch, because the size of the laptop has been increased to 14 inches. The Touch Bar above the keyboard has also been eliminated.

Higher models are very similar to their predecessors, including: the same port configuration. However, Apple decided to change the color of the laptops – now it offers space black instead of space gray. The company adds that this will make fingerprints less visible. The screen has also been improved and its brightness now reaches 600 nits (20 percent increase). Battery life is approximately 22 hours, although the 14-inch version will offer slightly less time away from the socket.

  • MacBook Pro 14″ (M3, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) – PLN 10,199;

  • MacBook Pro 14″ (M3 Pro, 18 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) – PLN 11,499;

  • MacBook Pro 14″ (M3 Pro, 18 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) – PLN 13,899;

  • MacBook Pro 14″ (M3 Max, 36 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) – PLN 18,699.

For the 16-inch Pro version we will pay as follows:

  • MacBook Pro 16″ (M3 Pro, 18 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) – PLN 13,999;

  • MacBook Pro 16″ (M3 Pro, 36 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) – PLN 16,399;

  • MacBook Pro 16″ (M3 Max, 36 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) – PLN 19,999;

  • MacBook Pro 16″ (M3 Max, 48 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD) – PLN 22,999.

Above we list the basic versions because each computer can be expanded with more RAM or data space. For example, the top MacBook Pro can have up to 128 GB of RAM for an additional PLN 6,000.

The M3 chip also found its way into iMac computers, which were previously only available with the over two-year-old M1 processor. The device’s 24-inch screen is still standard – Apple has not decided to enlarge it. The screen, 1080p camera, speakers, microphones and ports remain unchanged. The price of the device is from PLN 7,499 to PLN 9,899 in basic configurations.

All devices are now available for pre-order, and shipping will begin on November 7.
