Apartments are getting tighter. We maintain our inglorious position in the ranking
Over the course of four years, the size of the average newly completed multi-family apartment decreased by 1.3 m2. Polish apartments are among the smallest in Europe, and as the average salary can buy smaller and smaller spaces, this situation will not change quickly.
The average usable floor area of a flat for the 28 European Union countries is 96 m22. The average is raised by the Cypriots, who have an average of 141.4 m at their disposal2 usable area. There are slightly smaller apartments in Luxembourg (131.1 m2).2), in Belgium (124.3 m2), Norway (123.2 m2), Denmark (118.1 m2) and Switzerland (117.1 m2).

At the other extreme is Romania, where the average apartment area is more than twice lower than the EU average and amounts to only 43.9 m2.2. The next smallest apartments are Latvia and Lithuania, with an area of just over 60 m22.
Poland with a result of 61.5 m2 it’s fifth from the bottom. When we take provincial cities into account, it turns out that, on average, residents of Zielona Góra have the most space at their disposal – 70 sq m. In Wrocław and Opole there are 69 months per family2in Rzeszów 67 m2Poznań and Szczecin 65 m each2.
In Warsaw, the average square footage is 59 m2. It is the smallest in Kraków, Bydgoszcz and Olsztyn (58 m each).2), not counting the last place Łódź (54 m2).
And it looks like we won’t be expanding our space anytime soon. Over the course of four years, the size of the average newly completed multi-family apartment decreased by 1.3 m2.
