At the end of August, Monika Rzepka, director of Aleksander Kwaśniewski’s office, announced that due to a serious surgery and prolonged rehabilitation, the former president had to cancel all appearances previously planned for August and September. This information caused a huge wave of speculation about the politician’s health. Monika Rzepka assured that it was nothing serious but just a planned knee surgery.
How is Aleksander Kwaśniewski feeling?
During a live event organized at the end of September by the former president’s daughter on social media, Aleksander Kwaśniewski revealed the details of his illness. The politician admitted that he had been struggling with knee problems since the beginning of July. – During a trivial procedure, it became infected with bacteria, so I had a purulent knee inflammation that required surgery. In this way, I have been fighting for my knee for two months – he explained.
The former president noted that he had to walk on crutches. He added that some improvement was noticeable, but he was still not back to his full pre-illness form. At the same time, Aleksander Kwaśniewski thanked his loved ones for their support in difficult times. – I am grateful to Jola’s wife and Ola’s daughter for taking care of me, thanks to which I am alive and walking – he emphasized.
In 2011, Polish media circulated information about Aleksander Kwaśniewski’s surgery to remove a lumbar hernia. The procedure was a success and the former president quickly recovered.
