A family drama by the Polish master. “I can't write anything more”
Paweł Fajdek delivered the sad news. The hammerhead's father died. Moving words were spoken on social media.
This year, Paweł Fajdek intends to fight for the coveted gold medal of the Olympic Games. He won bronze at the previous Olympics, losing, among others, with Wojciech Nowicki, and in earlier years he was completely unsuccessful in performing in the most important sports event. Now sport is taking a backseat to him. All because of a family tragedy.
Paweł Fajdek published an unpleasant entry
The five-time world champion in hammer throwing announced the death of his father on social media. “Goodbye, Dad. Thank you for everything and see you soon, I miss you. I can't write anything more… – wrote Paweł Fajdek on Instagram, publishing photos with his loved one.
Waldemar Fajdek had a huge influence on his son's career because he played sports in his youth and encouraged him to enter this world. Paweł Fajdek ultimately chose athletics, and his favorite event was the hammer throw.
– I did everything to make him a decent person and I succeeded. However, I am not going to exalt myself with the fact that my son is a world-class athlete. It's thanks to him – said Waldemar Fajdek in an interview with “Fakt”.
Paweł Fajdek's successes
In addition to the fact that the 34-year-old became world champion five times and won an Olympic bronze medal, he also won three European championship medals – one gold and two silver. He twice took third place in the “Przegląd Sportowy” plebiscite for the Best Athlete in Poland. His personal record is 83.93 m, which he set in 2015. Many times, after his throws, the hammer reached a distance of 80 meters.
Together with Wojciech Nowicki, he created a duo of Polish athletes who regularly fight for medals in the most important international events. If Fajdek stood on the Olympic podium this year, he would certainly pay a beautiful tribute to his father. He is such an ambitious athlete that he can still be among the best in the world.
