Will Ukraine change its strategy? “They thought they would give us checkmate.”

Volodymyr Zelensky stated that a change in military strategy is being considered. He disagreed with the view that the fighting with the Russians had reached an impasse. – They thought they would checkmate us, but it didn’t happen – commented Zelensky.

A few days ago, the commander of the Ukrainian army gem. Valeriy Zaluzhny stated in an interview with “The Economist” that the war in Ukraine has entered the next stage – a positional war.

Gen. Załużny: Just like in World War I

This means that frontline operations are now static and devastating for both sides, unlike maneuver warfare, which is based on movement and speed.

Gen. Załużny warned that such a scenario is beneficial for Russia because it “allows it to rebuild its military power.”

– Just like in the First World War, we have reached a level of technology that puts us at an impasse – explained the commander of the Ukrainian army. – There will most likely not be a deep and beautiful breakthrough – he added.

Zelensky: Our military is coming up with various plans

On Sunday, November 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an interview to “NBC News” in which he said that a change in military strategy was being considered.

He admitted that the progress of the Ukrainian counteroffensive is slow and that the army is tired of the long conflict. At the same time, he disagreed with General Załużny’s assessment that the situation at the front was at an impasse.

– Our military comes up with various plans and undertakes various operations to advance faster and deal an unexpected blow to the Russian Federation. They thought they would checkmate us, but it didn’t happen, said the president of Ukraine.

Exclusion of negotiations with Russia

At the same time, Zelensky once again stated that Ukraine does not intend to negotiate with Russia. This is the result of reports that representatives of the United States and the European Union are encouraging the authorities in Kiev to hold peace talks.

– We hear many different voices around us. (…) But as of today, I have no relations with Russia, and they know my position. This is the position of my country, our nation – we do not want to conduct any dialogue with terrorists (…). Their words are worthless. We cannot trust terrorists, because terrorists always come back, said Zelensky.
