Michał Probierz’s Polish national team is getting ready for the decisive European Championship qualifying match. The clash with the Czech Republic will decide whether the White and Reds will have to play in the play-offs. The former national team goalkeeper mentioned the possibility of working with the coach. However, not everything depends on him.
After losing points against Moldova again, the Polish national team found itself in a very weak position. Direct promotion to EURO 2024 is still possible, but it no longer depends solely on the Reds and Whites. Unlike the last rivals or the Czechs (current runners-up), Touchstone’s team has only one match to play.
Jerzy Dudek may join the Polish team
Poles will face their southern neighbors in a direct clash. In the first match, during Fernando Santos’ term, the White and Reds lost 1:3. Now, even a victory will be of little use if the rivals win the next match. Then Michał Probierz’s team will have to fight in the play-offs.
According to Jerzy Dudek, the decision to employ the former coach of Cracovia and Jagiellonia Białystok was right. The goalkeeper, who played for Real Madrid years ago, was linked with the position of director of the national team when the 51-year-old took over. Although Dudka is still bound by advertising contracts that prevent him from signing a contract, he himself admits that this is not an insurmountable situation. He is willing to cooperate with the national team in the future.
– The coach is building his squad and he saw me in his team. Here we need to talk first of all with the Polish Football Association. If I reached an agreement with the union, there is a chance that I would be closer to the team. I have my own personal blockages, but they will be solved at the beginning of the new year. It is necessary to determine in advance what principles I should work on, Dudek told TVP Sport.
The Polish national team will play against the Czech Republic
The Polish national team is third in group E of the EURO 2024 qualifying round. The leader is the Albanians. The last qualifying match will be played by the White and Reds in Warsaw on November 17 against the Czech Republic.
