Unemployment in February. Concerns about the result were justified
Unemployment did not increase in February compared to January. Therefore, the fears that we are entering a period of increasing unemployment and that more and more people will have problems finding employment have not been confirmed.
According to preliminary data, the unemployment rate registered in Poland in February 2024 was 5.4%. compared to 5.4 percent in January – informed the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy.
Unemployment did not increase in February
Therefore, fears that unemployment will increase have not been confirmed. Such an increase was recorded in January: while in December unemployment was 5.1 percent, in the first month of the year it was 5.4 percent.
“Compared to February last year, the number of unemployed people decreased by 18.3 thousand. (i.e. 2.1 percent)” – it was written in the announcement. It was explained that the unemployment rate is usually higher annually in the winter months than in the other months due to the lower intensity of seasonal work. “This is a cyclical and natural phenomenon,” it added.

846.5 thousand unemployed
of which
13.7 thousand are citizens of Ukraine.
“Compared to the situation at the end of February 2022 (the beginning of the war in Ukraine), the number of unemployed Ukrainian citizens registered in labor offices increased almost nine times, and compared to the previous month by 0.6 thousand.” – it was written in the statement.
