Two wins and advancement to the semi-finals. The Grot Budowlane Łódź team looks solid in the CEV Cup. This time the volleyball players defeated the French Beziers VB.
The year 2023 was a breakthrough for women’s volleyball in terms of the successes achieved by the national team. Thanks to the bronze medal in the Nations League and then qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris (2024), we can write about the revival of women’s volleyball strength. Another stimulus is the results achieved by Polish clubs in European cups on the international arena.
Grot Budowlani Łódź advances to the semi-finals of the CEV Cup
It is true that in the case of women it is difficult to compare the results with men, looking at club volleyball. The “Polish final” in the game for triumph in the Champions League is still a dream for Tauron Liga teams, but interesting things are happening in the CEV Cup. The second most important competition has a Polish representative in the top four.
This is a historic success for Groty Budowlane Łódź. The team led by coach Maciej Biernat won the rematch against the French Beziers VB 3:2. The hosts won the first match in Łódź 3:1.
Ewelina Wilińska was the MVP of the match deciding on the promotion. Top scorer? The reliable Jelena Blagojević has recently been brought back to Poland. The Serbian host scored 16 points for the Łódź team.
Grupa Azoty Chemik Police is strong in the Tauron League
Interestingly, the semi-finalists of the CEV Cup at home are not in the top four of the league. What’s more, Grot Budowlani is behind another club from Łódź, i.e. ŁKS Commercecon. Although in the case of rivals from the same city, we are talking about the current national champions.
The Grupa Azoty Chemika Police team is at the top of the table in the Tauron Liga. After the disastrous previous season, the Cheers are clearly eager to return to the championship throne. The podium is completed by the PGE Rysic Rzeszów teams and the revelation of the competition, the BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała team.
