On Thursday, the General Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces published a communiqué. It shows that on the border with Belarus, the Polish Army is carrying out intensive activities with the use of specialized equipment to ensure security. “On Tuesday, after the end of combat flights, one of the helicopters carrying out the patrol in the border area was found missing a fuse in one of the missiles” – added.
Information about the lost fuse
The military reported that the detonator has built-in protections and does not pose a threat to the environment.
At. At 11:17 a.m. in a Twitter post, the Command showed a photo of the fuse. “The item you are looking for is a metal cone eleven centimeters long. It is screwed onto the top of the projectile and it is the fuse that, when the projectile is used, is the first to contact the ground and activate the explosive charge, RMF24 informed. According to his findings, the fuse of the projectile probably fell in the vicinity of the Białowieża Forest.
RMF FM has determined that the detonator has no radio location, so only physical searches can be conducted to locate it. The item likely detached from the helicopter’s flight due to the inevitable in-flight vibrations. “We note that during military operations, situations of this kind occur, such as, for example, in Afghanistan, where, after carrying out combat flights, there were cases of missing items of equipment” – explained the Command.
If you come across an item, the Command asks you to mark the place where you found it and notify the nearest military unit or the Police.
