The president wants to pardon Kamiński and Wąsik. Mastalerek: Nothing has changed in this matter
The president announced that he wanted to pardon PiS politicians again, but the 2015 act remains – in his opinion – in force. Marcin Mastalerek commented on Andrzej Duda’s decision.
– I will do it, fully aware of the tragedy of this situation. Also for the office of the President of the Republic of Poland. Fully aware (…) It will be brutal force against the law that I represent. This is my personal belief, says Andrzej Duda in an interview for “Super Express”. The president announced that he wanted to again pardon PiS politicians convicted by a final judgment.
The case is commented on by the head of the president’s office, Marcin Mastalerek. As he assures, nothing has changed in this matter. Mastalerek recalled that Andrzej Duda recently initiated the pardon procedure based on the Code of Criminal Procedure. – The president is waiting for the opinion of the prosecutor general regarding the pardon, because these are the requirements for this legal path – he explained in an interview with Onet.
Mastalerek on Duda’s decision: Nothing has changed
A moment later he posted on social media, . “Pardon proceedings are underway. President Andrzej Duda will make a decision immediately after receiving the opinion of the Prosecutor General. Mr. Adam Bodnar, by delaying and not releasing the MPs from prison, is endangering their lives and health,” said Marcin Mastalerek.
The president accuses Bodnar of “brutal handling of the matter”
Adam Bodnar announced the submission of the above-mentioned opinion along with the Kamiński and Wąsik case files on Monday. The Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General assured that the head of state will receive these documents within a few days. However, there is no indication that the convicts will be released due to Bodnar’s decision until the case is completed. This is what he wanted about them, among other things. Andrzej Duda or the Law and Justice community. In this regard, reference was made to his poor health caused by the hunger strike.
– I have already appealed to Minister Adam Bodnar because I created conditions for him to stop both men from serving their prison sentences. Unfortunately, he doesn’t take advantage of this. This is shocking to me. I consider it a brutal approach to the case – this is how Duda commented in an interview on the fact that the convicts are still in custody. When asked when PiS politicians would return home, the president expressed hope that it would happen “as soon as possible.”
