The Polish Wailing Wall is located near Kazimierz Dolny. If you thought you could only find this type of place in Jerusalem, you were wrong.

Tourists associate the Wailing Wall mainly with the remains of the famous Jerusalem Temple. It is also the holiest place in Judaism, which must be treated with special respect. It turns out that to feel at least a little bit of the local atmosphere, you don't have to go outside our country. Just visit Czerniawy, a suburb of Kazimierz Dolny, which is located towards the road to Opole Lubelskie.

This unusual place will be of interest to, among others: lovers of Jewish culture and local history. It is also worth visiting them, among others, if you are planning to go to the famous Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. In Czerniawy, Kazimierz Dolny, there is not only a unique wailing wall, but also a Jewish cemetery.

This place is certainly shrouded in religious cult and melancholy. There we will see historic matzevot from the Jewish cemetery. It was from them that the wailing wall and one of the most beautiful Jewish cemeteries in Poland were built. Antoni Michalski, a painter from Kazimierz, is responsible for the whole project. It was he who managed to save and restore these important elements.

The monument called the Polish Wailing Wall was modeled on the one in Jerusalem. Interestingly, the object visible in Kazimierz Dolny has a crack in the middle, which symbolizes the fate of Polish and Kazimierz Jews. There are tombstones on both sides of the wall – women's on the left and men's on the right.

If you are going on a trip to the area of ​​Kazimierz Dolny, it is worth focusing not only on attractions such as the market square, Vistula boulevards, iconic wells, Renaissance tenement houses or the statue of the dog Werniks. The place called the Polish Wailing Wall is less cheerful and not as popular as the above-mentioned objects, but it deserves attention for many reasons.

The area around Czerniawa includes: beautiful peaceful beech forest. It is here that vertical tombstones were scattered. These are often covered with moss and almost blend in with the trees. The nature surrounding the wailing wall is charming and allows you to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
