Stefano Lavarini has a headache. He lost his star before the start of the Nations League
Stefano Lavarini will have to cope without Olivia Różański. The 26-year-old's place will be taken by Paulina Damaske, for whom it will be her debut in the Nations League.
The Polish national volleyball team begins its competition in the Nations League. After a great third place in last year's competition, the fans and the entire team have great appetite. Unlike last season, now there is not so much emphasis on winning the competition. The White and Reds secured their Olympic qualification for the games scheduled for the end of July. The tournament in Paris is the most important event of the year.
Paulina Damaske joins Stefano Lavarini's squad
The Poles have already had two sparring matches with the Dutch national team. They won the first one 5-0 (the coaches agreed on five sets regardless of the result). In the second match, the opponents won 3:2. In both of them, Olivia Różański was on the pitch. Although the new player from Turkish Besiktas had major problems in attack, she enjoyed (and still enjoys) the unwavering trust of the Italian coach.
The host flew to Antalya for the first tournament, but it quickly turned out that she was unable to play. On the website of the Polish Volleyball Association we can only read about absences “for health reasons”. No further details were provided. Her place will be taken by another receiver, Paulina Damaske.
The BKS Bostik ZGO Bielsko-Biała player from Rumia was a key player in Bartłomiej Piekarczyk's team in the last season of the Tauron Liga. Together with the team from the Silesian Voivodeship, she celebrated winning the Polish Cup and the bronze medal in the national competition. So far, she has not had the opportunity to make her debut in a Nations League match.
Start of the 2024 Nations League
During the first tournament of the 2024 Women's Nations League in Antalya, Polish women will play four matches. Their rivals will be Italians, French, Dutch and Japanese.
