Michał Kołodziejczak admitted that he did not understand the farmers protesting in Warsaw
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michał Kołodziejczak admitted that he did not understand what yesterday's farmers' demonstration was about. – It is more like an election campaign that aims to act on people's great ignorance – he said on RMF FM.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michał Kołodziejczak admitted on RMF FM that many of the demands of farmers protesting against the Green Deal are valid. He said that “we should be afraid of changes that are not discussed,” but also that “the street is not the place to decide on such things.”
Kołodziejczak: PiS adopted the Green Deal
– PiS accepted the provisions of the Green Deal without hesitation. They patted it all down in 2019, without warning anyone here and without discussing it – neither in Brussels nor in Poland – said the politician, who has no doubt that the previous government should be blamed for dissatisfied farmers.
He also believes that the Green Deal should not be condemned in its entirety, because many of its provisions are in the interest of Poles.
– All changes must be discussed, planned and implemented appropriately. There was a long time for this in previous years. This was not done by the PiS government. Today, Prime Minister Tusk said that we can change many of these provisions, said Krzysztof Ziemiec's interlocutor.
However, Kołodziejczak does not defend the provisions of the Green Deal, which hit Poles' pockets.
– I do not defend provisions that hit Poles' pockets, will be introduced by force and will not coincide with either the interests or policy of Poland. But I will not support going out and shouting that all this happened thanks to several months of this government's actions – said Krzysztof Ziemiec's guest on RMF FM.
Farmers protested in Warsaw
He also referred to yesterday's farmers' demonstration in Warsaw. He admitted that he did not understand it and, as the head of a very active agricultural organization at that time, he organized protests differently.
– When Agrounia took part in the protests, it always had specific demands, we always had a clear and clear message. And I don't know exactly what yesterday's protest was about. (…) It is more like an election campaign, which aims to act on people's great ignorance – he said.
