Łukasz Kaczmarek on the key Champions League match. ZAKSA plays for everything
The volleyball players of Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle will play the return match against Halkbank Ankara in the Champions League on Wednesday afternoon (i.e. February 7).
The last three seasons were their domination in Europe. Now they are back against the wall in terms of advancing to the next phase of the Champions League. This is more or less the situation of the volleyball players of Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. “More or less” due to the fact that, apart from the sports challenge, the Polish runner-up will once again have to deal with health problems.
Łukasz Kaczmarek before a key Champions League match
It is no secret that two key ZAKSA players have not trained in recent days due to illness. Łukasz Kaczmarek and Bartosz Bednorz finally went to Ankara and will be available to coach Adam Swaczyna.
– The most important thing will be how we start this match. And our health. As we know, many of us haven’t trained since the match against Halkbank. We will definitely do everything to return to Kędzierzyn-Koźle and advance to the quarterfinals. This is our goal, this is our priority and we are not looking at what has happened over the last few days. Or how we felt. We go out on the pitch to fight and to bring Kędzierzyn-Koźle to the quarterfinals of the Champions League – admitted the ZAKSA and Polish national team attacker in front of the club’s camera.
Let us remind you that the stake of the match is advancement to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. In the first match ZAKSA won 3:2. The Polish runners-up need a win to advance. If they lose 1:3 or 0:3, they will be eliminated from the competition. If the match ends with a win for the Turkish hosts after a tie-break, the so-called golden set up to 15 points.
