On Thursday, May 21, the chairman of the National Media Council, Krzysztof Czabański, ordered a vote on two resolutions. The first increases the number of members of the management board of Telewizja Polska to four people (from three currently), and the second appoints Jacek Kurski as a member of the management board. According to the findings of the Wirtualne Media portal, three of the five RMN members supported Jacek Kurski and two voted against. Thus, Jacek Kurski returns to the TVP management board.
Jacek Kurski dismissed as president of TVP
“On March 10, 2020, the Supervisory Board of TVP SA suspended Ms. Marzena Paczuska-Tętnik, Member of the Company’s Management Board, for a period of 3 months. In place of the current President of the Management Board, Jacek Kurski, who was dismissed on March 9, 2020, the Supervisory Board of TVP SA delegated Mr. Maciej Łopiński as the acting President of the Management Board,” it was stated in a statement published by the TVP Information Center. As it later turned out, Jacek Kurski took up the position of advisor to the TVP management board.
Even before the end of his presidency, Jacek Kurski turned to Andrzej Duda. – Mr. President, if you wish it, and it is a condition for signing the act guaranteeing public media almost PLN 2 billion in necessary compensation, I am at your disposal. I don’t have to be the president of Telewizja Polska, what’s important to me is that the media has financing, Kurski said in an interview broadcast on TVP in early March.
