Hubert Hurkacz triumphs in Toronto. Now he may face a really difficult task

Hubert Hurkacz is looking for his chance in the ATP Toronto tournament. The Wroclawian has already made it through the first round, in which he faced Aleksander Bublik. If he makes it through another round, he’ll most likely have a hell of a job to do.

Tennis struggles have moved to Canada. While the women compete in the WTA tournament in Montreal, so do the men compete on the hard courts in Toronto. Unfortunately, Magda Linette, who lost in the first round to Wiktoria Azarenka, said goodbye to the women’s tournament, and Iga Świątek did not start her struggles yet, because in the second round she will face Karolina Pliskova.

ATP in Toronto: Hubert Hurkacz finished off his rival in over an hour

Hubert Hurkacz also has his first match on Australian courts. He faced Aleksander Bublik from Kazakhstan. This meeting started very well for the Pole, because already at 1:1 he broke his opponent. Unfortunately, he answered the same, but Hurkacz had another break points in the fifth game and used one of them. In this set, “Hubi” won one more rival’s serve and it took place at 3:5.

In the second set Kazach has already stood up to the Pole. The game was more even, and even with the score 2:2 Bublik was able to use the first break-point. The next game was characterized by a very long exchange, and the players played a total of 14 points. Fortunately, it was Hurkacz who managed to win this game and break his opponent back. Later in the game, the players defended their passes, and the winner had to be determined by a tie-break. In it, “Hubi” had no equal and won 7:2 and thus the whole match 2:0, which after adding up lasted as much as 77 minutes.

Hubert Hurkacz may soon face the leader of the ranking

In the second round, Hurkacz’s opponent will be the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic (ATP 44), who defeated the Chilean Cristian Garin on the night of Monday to Tuesday, Polish time. If the Pole manages to get through this phase of the tournament, he will most likely face the leader of the ranking, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, in the 1/8 finals.
